Description

Original Item. Only One Available. The Ordnance quick-firing 6-pounder 7 cwt, or just 6-pounder, was a British 57 mm gun, serving during the Second World War as a primary anti-tank gun of both the British and United States Army (as the 57 mm gun M1). It was also used as the main armament for a number of armored fighting vehicles. Although designed before the start of the war, it did not reach service until the North African Campaign in April 1942. There, it replaced the 2-pounder as an anti-tank gun, allowing the 25-pounder gun-howitzer to revert to its intended artillery role. Like all deactivated ordnance, this shell is Not Available for Export.

This is a great shell for the British 6-Pounder. The projectile is painted black with a white tip and white, red, white band at the middle. The projectile can come out of the casing for inspection of the interior. With the projectile, the entire piece is 26” tall. The side of the body is stamped in red:

PG/C 1/444493 282

The brass band on the side is stamped:

APCBC7CWT TP X T SC11377-11 43BS LOT-B8OC (BROAD ARROW)

The bottom of the casing is marked:

6 Pr. 7CWTILOT 425 RM/C1943

A great example, ready for further research and display.
